Darth Zannah was a Sith Lord who lived approximately 1,000 years before the events of the Star Wars films. Born as Raini in the village of Hope on Somov Rit, her Force sensitivity was discovered at a young age during a battle between Jedi and native bouncers. She unconsciously unleashed a Force power that eliminated the bouncers. The Jedi Master Johun Othone brought her to the Jedi Temple on Ruusan.

During the Ruusan campaign, Raini bonded with a group of Jedi Padawans and Knights. Darth Bane, the sole surviving Sith Lord, manipulated events on Ruusan, culminating in the thought bomb explosion. Raini survived this event, and believing the Jedi were responsible for the blast, she was found by Bane. He sensed her strong connection to the Force and her raw power.

Darth Bane took her as his apprentice, renaming her Darth Zannah. She trained under him in the ways of the dark side, learning sorcery and the cunning arts of deception. Zannah's training emphasized patience and strategy over brute force, a contrast to Bane's reliance on physical power. Ultimately, she proved a formidable Sith Lord, eventually succeeding Bane and continuing the Sith legacy by passing on the knowledge to her own student.
